Glass loupe
A drop of glass you drag over an interface still: it magnifies the middle, bends type at the rim, and off the picture it is only light and shadow.
Where it earns its place
Case studies and product pages where the detail is the pitch: inspecting type, grids and data density in a dashboard shot without opening a lightbox.
What we changed
- Kept the optics that make it real: one capsule distance field drives bend, rim light and shadow, and the rim samples outward along its normal so type curves at the edge.
- Kept the frame-rate independent spring (decay raised to the frame count) and the loop that parks itself once the glass settles.
- Made the velocity stretch follow the true direction of travel instead of the nearest axis, and added a lift: picked up, the loupe magnifies more and its shadow drops and softens.
- Replaced the photograph with a painted Aster OS console full of small type, rebuilt on react-three-fiber with arrow-key steering, DPR capped at 1.5 and no stretch or spring under reduced motion.
