Letter knock
Letters of the wordmark are knocked in the direction and with the force of the cursor passing through them, then spring home.
Where it earns its place
A wordmark on a lab, careers or about page, where a little physical play fits the brand and rewards the visitors who explore.
What we changed
- Made it genuinely velocity-aware: push distance scales with pointer speed (capped at a third of the letter height), where the original used a fixed distance on any hover.
- The letter flies mostly along the pointer's direction of travel, blended with the away-from-cursor vector the original used on its own.
- A newer hit supersedes one in flight through a per-letter token, so double knocks never snap home early.
- Distances are in ems of the wordmark, so the card and the stage behave alike; a phantom swipe demonstrates it until the first real pointer, and reduced motion keeps the letters still.
- Kept the original's two-phase motion: an instant circ-out hit, then an under-damped spring back to rest.
