Ring carousel
Launch stills on a turntable: cards drift at rest, follow a drag one to one and glide on with the speed of the throw, and nothing ever leaves the frame.
Where it earns its place
A handful of hero images that deserve to be handled rather than paged: launch stills, product angles, a short portfolio on a landing page.
What we changed
- Removed the per-card pointer tilt: the ring already carries depth, and a second motion under the cursor turned a turntable into a toy.
- Recast with composed launch frames of Aster OS, Northstar Cloud and Vellum Labs, with a live caption naming the front still and its result.
- Card size, orbit, lean and drag distance are derived from the measured stage, so the same ring fits a grid card, a desktop stage and a phone.
- Added click-to-bring (the short way round), previous and next buttons, and arrow keys; reduced motion removes the drift and jumps between cards.
- Kept the insights: an unbounded turn value so there is no seam, cards that rise as they recede, a flick judged on release speed and capped at two cards.
